Gukesh Dommaraju, the 18-year-old chess prodigy from Chennai, has returned home after becoming the youngest world chess champion. He defeated Chinese grandmaster Ding Liren in Singapore after a 14-game battle. Gukesh received a hero’s welcome at Chennai airport, greeted by throngs of supporters and media. The victory marks India’s second world chess champion from Chennai, following Viswanathan Anand.
