The government has announced next-generation GST reforms, aimed at providing relief to the common person. A Union Minister for Food, Consumer Affairs, and Public Distribution detailed the changes, which place many essential items related to food, health, and education into the 0% or 5% tax slab, down from previous rates of 12% or 18%. The minister stated the move is intended to positively impact the middle class and the poor, and also cited the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana as another measure for public relief. Responding to criticism that the government was acting on suggestions from the opposition, the minister dismissed the claims and had a sharp quote for the Congress party: "if they are so fond of giving advice, then let them always sit in opposition and give us advice." The minister also refuted arguments that the reforms were made under external pressure. #gstreforms #gst #taxcuts #modigovt #indianeconomy #commonman #costofliving #inflation #indianpolitics #rahulgandhi #congress #bjpvscongress #economicrelief #rdindiatoday
