A 26-year-old woman, Nikki, was allegedly tortured and set on fire by her husband and in-laws in Greater Noida over dowry demands nine years into her marriage. The husband, Bipin, reportedly demanded a Mercedes and 60 lakh rupees, even after Nikki’s father had already provided a Scorpio and a Bullet bike. The victim’s brother stated that Bipin became enraged when the family refused to provide the Mercedes. A child witnessed his mother being dragged by her hair and set ablaze with a lighter. The victim’s sister, Kanchan, who was married into the same family, captured the incident on camera. An FIR has been registered, and the husband has been arrested, while other accused family members, including the mother-in-law, are absconding.
