At a national convocation ceremony for Industrial Training Institute (ITI) students, the government launched two significant schemes for skill development. This includes the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) scheme, a ₹60,000 crore project to connect ITIs more strongly with industries. The event also saw the inauguration of 1,200 vocational skill labs in schools across the country. The speaker emphasized the importance of respecting labour, stating, "We call it ‘srama eva jayate’ and we also call it ‘srama eva pujyate’." A special focus was placed on Bihar, with the dedication of a new skill training university and the approval of thousands of permanent government jobs to guarantee a better future for the state’s youth. This follows a recent large-scale programme focused on employment and self-reliance for women in Bihar. The initiatives aim to empower local talent and leverage skills for national development.
