The Dark Energy Camera captured a striking image of ‘God’s Hand’ (CG 4), a massive cometary globule reaching towards galaxy ESO 25719 (PGC 21338). Located 1,300 light-years away in the constellation Puppis, CG 4 spans 8 light-years in length and 1.5 light-years in width. Despite resembling a cosmic hand, it is composed of dense gas and dust, shaped by stellar winds or supernova explosions. Observed with a Hydrogen-alpha filter, it glows faintly against the stars. This mysterious formation adds to the 32 globules found in the nearby Gum Nebula.
