Following a major Q fever outbreak between 2007 and 2010, scientists are now linking goat farming to an increase in respiratory issues, with people living within 1-1.5 kilometers of the farms having a significantly higher risk. Despite efforts to control the disease, including the culling of over 50,000 goats, concerns are growing about another zoonotic outbreak. Experts warn that this could be a new disease, and restrictions on goat farming have been put in place to limit the risk.
