In a devastating tragedy, at least 25 people were killed in a fire at the ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’ nightclub in Goa’s Arpora. The blaze, suspected to be caused by a cylinder blast, trapped victims in the basement. BJP MLA Michael Lobo, who visited the spot, expressed his distress, stating, ‘We’ll have to take a safety audit of all the other clubs in the state of Goa, which is very important.’ Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has ordered a magisterial inquiry, and the police have arrested the club’s owner. DGP Alok Kumar confirmed the recovery of bodies, mostly staff members.
