A retired Brigadier VK Joshi was fatally shot during his routine morning walk in Uttarakhand today when he was struck by a bullet amidst a high-speed car chase on Mussoorie Road. A Scorpio chased a Delhi-registered Fortuner, with occupants allegedly shooting at the car in front. Witnesses reported that the Fortuner was continuously being fired at. Brigadier Joshi was hit in the chest by a bullet during the violent incident. When one of the SUVs met with an accident, the occupants of the two cars allegedly got into a fight. The car chase was allegedly sparked by a brawl earlier at a club called Gen Z. Police have arrested some suspects. Serious questions are now being raised about unchecked street violence, illegal firearms, and glaring lapses in urban policing in Uttarakhand, with an innocent life lost in the incident.
