Clashes erupted in Georgia after the governing Georgian Dream Party claimed victory in the municipal elections on October 4th. Riot police used pepper spray and water cannons to disperse demonstrators near the presidential palace in Tbilisi. Protesters marched after opposition parties alleged election fraud and pro-Russia policies by the government. The core of the demonstrations is a demand for greater integration with the European Union. According to one speaker, "The very issue at the heart of this entire protest is the integration with the European Union." The unrest led to injuries among both protesters and police personnel. Leaders from Moldova, Ukraine, and Germany have reportedly advised support for the pro-EU movement in the country.
