While typing speed on smartphones is rising—with teens averaging 38 words per minute—keyboard typing still outpaces it at 52 wpm. Experts warn that the shift may impact typing proficiency, though some teachers have successfully revived interest through competitions, showing the skill can still be learned with practice.
