Congress leaders and party workers staged protests in Delhi against the ongoing LPG gas cylinder crisis, carrying mud stoves (chulhas) to symbolise the difficulties faced by citizens. The protest, which began at the Congress office, was planned to culminate in a march to the BJP headquarters. Protesters demanded the resignation of Union Minister Hardeep Puri, holding the central government responsible for the shortage affecting restaurants, street vendors, and households across Delhi and other parts of the country. Reports indicate that restaurants have reduced their menus from seven to eight dishes to just two items due to the gas shortage. The Delhi government has formed teams to prevent black marketing and hoarding of cylinders, following incidents such as a Samajwadi Party leader allegedly hoarding 55 cylinders in Uttar Pradesh. Online gas cylinder bookings are reportedly not functioning, and agencies are refusing registrations, causing long queues at gas agencies and widespread public panic.
