Galgotias University has issued a formal apology following a massive controversy at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi, where it was accused of passing off a Chinese-made robotic dog as its own innovation. The university has blamed Professor Neha Singh for the fiasco, stating she was ‘ill-informed’ and ‘not aware of the technical origins of the product’. According to the university, Singh gave ‘factually incorrect information’ and was not authorised to speak to the press. Professor Neha Singh took accountability, stating, ‘I take accountability that perhaps I did not communicate it properly’. The row escalated after Chinese media and social media users identified the robot as the Unitree Go2. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah slammed the university, questioning its education model and accusing it of throwing an employee under the bus. The government has since ordered the university to vacate its pavilion and disconnected its power supply at the summit.
