The government has announced significant relief measures for the aviation sector. Export duty on jet fuel has been set at 29.5 rupees per litre, whilst domestic aviation fuel is now tax exempt. Foreign-going aircraft receive basic duty relief, with the government offering 100% tax exemption on fuel for aircraft refuelling at Indian airports. This move aims to keep Indian airports competitive with global hubs for refuelling services. The relief comes as the government attempts to address concerns related to surging oil prices. Additionally, diesel export duty has been hiked to 21.5 rupees per litre, whilst petrol exports remain duty-free. Neighbouring countries including Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka have been exempted from these export duties. Oil marketing companies such as IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL will export on this tax basis.
