A team of palaeontologists has uncovered fossilized footprints of a massive raptor species, Fujianipus, in southeastern China. The footprints, measuring as large as half the length of a school bus, belong to a giant raptor that lived around 96 million years ago during the Cretaceous period. The discovery of these footprints, with imprints from only two toes, sheds new light on the size and potential of raptors, showing that they could have grown much larger than previously known. Although the fossilized skeleton is still under study, the footprints provide crucial insight into the raptor’s anatomy and its ability to compete with other large predators of the time.
