Several FIITJEE coaching centres across North India have abruptly shut down over the past week, sparking outrage among students and parents ahead of crucial board exams and entrance tests. According to officials, at least eight centres in Noida, Ghaziabad, Bhopal, Varanasi, Delhi, Patna, and Meerut have closed their doors after a mass resignation of teachers over unpaid salaries.
The closures began following the conclusion of the academic session for students taking the January 22-24 Session-1 of JEE Mains, with the Meerut centre being the latest to shut down. Initially, the centre’s administration attempted to arrange substitute teachers from Noida, but the arrangement lasted only a few days before they were forced to shut down completely.
The closures come amid mounting financial difficulties within FIITJEE, compounded by allegations that the company diverted funds to other business ventures, leaving teachers without salaries for months. Reports suggest the annual salary of FIITJEE teachers ranged between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 2 crore. Many teachers resigned due to unpaid dues, adding to the chaos.
