Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari mounted a strong defence of India’s ethanol-blending programme, dismissing allegations that the policy has favoured select companies or led to widespread problems for vehicle users. Speaking to India Today TV at the Nirman Bharat event, Gadkari described the criticism as a “false and paid campaign” pushed by vested interests opposed to reducing India’s dependence on imported fossil fuels.
