The discussion centres on India’s firm position of not lowering tariffs on agricultural products to protect its farmers, a stance the US has criticised. Agriculture economist Dr Ashok Gulati argues that India’s import duty structure on agriculture is not rational and reforms are overdue. He states, "80% of our agriculture is very much competitive."
