A major controversy has erupted in Rajasthan’s Tonk district after a video of former BJP MP Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria went viral, showing him allegedly discriminating against the Muslim community during a blanket distribution drive. The former lawmaker, who represented the Tonk-Sawai Madhopur constituency, was seen refusing to provide blankets to Muslim women and even ordering that blankets already handed out to them be taken back. Jaunapuria justified his actions by claiming that those who do not vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi or those who ‘abuse’ him do not deserve the charity. He stated, ‘Those who abuse Modi, are undeserving of this,’ and emphasized that the distribution was his personal charity rather than a government programme. The incident, which took place in Niwai’s Kareda village, has drawn sharp criticism for its blatant communal discrimination. While locals and victims expressed their humiliation, Jaunapuria maintained he has the right to decide the beneficiaries of his personal philanthropic efforts.
