A major transatlantic trade deal between the European Union and the United States has been suspended following US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose fresh tariffs. The move comes as part of a push to secure control over Greenland, with a 10% tariff levied on EU nations. The speaker noted that ‘this tariff is only applicable till June and if there’s no green signal to the deal over Greenland till June, then from June 1st, the tariffs will increase to 25% from 10%.’ In a tit-for-tat response, the EU has put the ratification of a previous trade agreement on hold, citing non-cooperation.
