Environment Min Bhupender Yadav Dismisses Aravalli Mining Fears: ‘Delhi, Gurgaon Fully Protected'

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav addresses the controversy surrounding mining in the Aravalli range in an exclusive interview with India Today’s Marya Shakil. Responding to concerns that the new ‘100-meter definition’ could exclude 99% of the hills, Yadav clarifies the data, stating the Aravalli range spans 1.47 lakh sq km across four states and 37 districts. He asserts, ‘Delhi mein mining allow nahi hai, Gurgaon, Faridabad mein mining allow nahi hai’ (Mining is not allowed in Delhi, Gurgaon, or Faridabad). The Minister defends the government’s stance, citing the three-degree slope formula and dismissing claims of mass exclusion.
