In another development, Former OpenAI chief technology officer Mira Murati has launched a new AI startup—Thinking Machines Lab—bringing along about 30 top researchers and engineers from OpenAI, Meta, and Mistral. Notably, two-thirds of her team are former OpenAI employees, including Barret Zoph, who left OpenAI the same day as Murati and will now serve as the startup’s technology chief. OpenAI co-founder John Schulman also joins as chief scientist, having left OpenAI for Anthropic last year to focus on AI alignment.
