After a successful vote with over 97% backers, Elon Musk’s SpaceX is set to have its own city, Starbase, SpaceX’s launch site and facility in a remote part of Texas, is set to a new city. 283 residents, mostly SpaceX workers, voted to make Starbase City a reality. Musk celebrated the vote online, saying “Starbase, Texas is now a real city!”
Company townships are not a unique idea, but have not been used by modern businesses. While Musk will not officially be in charge of Starbase City, he will still have de facto leadership given that the first mayor will be a senior employee of SpaceX
