Elon Musk has stepped down from the Department of Government Efficiency after 130 days. US President Donald Trump presented Musk with a gold White House key during a ceremonial farewell. Trump praised Musk’s efforts to slash federal spending and suggested that Musk would remain involved, stating, ‘Elon’s really not leaving. He’s going to be back and forth, I think.’ Musk promised to remain a behind-the-scenes force and hinted that the projected $1 trillion in savings is still achievable.
