Electric Spoon Cuts Salt, Not Flavour: Japan’s News Invention Could Change How We Eat

Looking to reduce your sodium intake but crave that salty satisfaction?
A new invention from Japan might be the answer. Kirin Holdings, a beverage giant venturing into healthcare, has launched the world’s first commercially available electric spoon. This innovative utensil promises to enhance the perceived saltiness of food, allowing you to enjoy flavourful meals with less sodium.
The average Japanese adult consumes double the World Health Organization’s recommended daily sodium intake. By making delicious low-sodium meals more appealing, the electric spoon could promote healthier eating habits and potentially reduce health risks associated with excess sodium.
While the initial launch is limited, with only 200 spoons available online and a planned rollout at select Japanese retailers, Kirin aspires to reach 1 million users globally within five years.
