The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has uncovered an international scam syndicate valued at 100 crore rupees following a midnight operation at three locations in Delhi’s Kanpur area. The operation targeted a bogus call centre that allegedly defrauded thousands of foreign nationals, primarily in the United States and the United Kingdom. The syndicate operated by selling pirated or fake software, disguised as legitimate products like Microsoft Windows. Investigations revealed that foreign remittances amounting to 100 crore rupees were channeled into the network’s accounts between 2016 and 2025. A source stated, "the people working in the call centers, they are making calls in US and UK specifically and those US and UK citizens are being duped by some fraudsters in India." The ED’s crackdown is part of a broader effort to dismantle illegal call centres defrauding people internationally.
