The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Karnataka Congress MLA Virendra in connection with an illegal betting case. The legislator from the Chitradurga constituency was arrested in Gangtok, Sikkim, and has been brought to Bengaluru for further questioning. This action followed searches where the central agency seized approximately 12 crore rupees in cash, including 1 crore in foreign currency. Gold jewelry worth around 6 crore rupees, 10 kg of silver articles, and four high-end vehicles were also recovered. According to the ED, the investigation will now focus on identifying other individuals involved in the betting racket and understanding the network connected to the MLA. This development is considered a setback for the Congress party in Karnataka.
