The Ministry of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar addressed Parliament on India’s response to the ongoing West Asia crisis. In the last three days, Indian carriers operated 51 inbound flights on March 7, 49 on March 8, and 50 flights were planned for March 9. The government maintained close diplomatic contact with relevant countries in the region. High-level conversations were held with leaders of UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, and Israel, with each country assuring that the well-being of the Indian community would be a priority. Regular contacts with the United States continued through diplomatic channels. An Iranian vessel, IRIS Levant, docked at Kochi port on March 1 after Iran requested permission for three ships on February 28. The crew is currently in Indian naval facilities. The government emphasised three guiding factors: advocating for peace, dialogue and de-escalation; prioritising the safety of the Indian community; and protecting national interests including energy security and trade flows.
