Since the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran began, over 1700 missiles and drones have been launched towards the United Arab Emirates, according to the UAE’s Defence Ministry. Over 90 per cent have been intercepted by air defences, fighter jets and helicopters. The attacks have rattled Dubai, long marketed as a tax-free, conflict-proof safe haven for global wealth, exposing vulnerabilities in a city that built its brand on stability. Iran has cited Dubai’s strategic alignment with Washington as justification, noting the UAE’s status as a major defence partner of the United States with approximately 3,500 US personnel stationed at Al-Dafra airbase. The UAE has also emerged as one of Israel’s closest regional partners since the 2020 Abraham Accords. Daily life has been transformed, with residents receiving alerts warning of potential missile threats. Tourism in Dubai generates around 30 billion dollars annually, with over 90 per cent of residents being foreign nationals, including one of the world’s highest concentrations of billionaires.
