He explained that while Ayatollah Khamenei had initially named three successors excluding his son, a sympathy wave and unanimous support from the Revolutionary Guard, clerics, and government officials brought Mujtaba to power. Dr. Waiel Awwad emphasized that Mojtaba has worked under his father for a decade and understands the system well. He argued that the new leader has a mandate to carry on the revolution and will deliver militarily. Dr. Waiel Awwad also addressed Iran’s regional network, stating that groups like Hezbollah and Iraqi militias primarily defend their own territories rather than act as Iranian proxies. He criticized Western narratives about demonstrations against the new leadership, noting rallying support among Iranians.
