Don't Add Migrant Workers to Tamil Nadu's Voter Lists: DMK Leader Drops Bombshell | India Today

This special report covers controversial remarks by DMK Organisational Secretary T.K.S. Elangovan on migrant workers, the BJP, and the Election Commission, following Prime Minister Modi’s statements about the mistreatment of Biharis in Tamil Nadu. In a contentious statement, Elangovan said, ‘There are many migrant workers who have come here. They should not be added to the voters list, first thing.’ The DMK leader claimed migrants are safe in the state because of the Dravidian government and urged them to vote for the DMK for their continued safety. He further alleged that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is ‘conducted to choose voters for BJP’ and that the ‘Election Commission has become a wing of the BJP’. Elangovan also referenced an Election Commission figure, stating that 6.5 lakh Bihari voters who came to Tamil Nadu are part of a BJP plan to add them to the state’s voter list to unfairly influence elections.
