He dismissed the argument that India needs the oil, terming it propaganda and a "refining profiteering scheme". The advisor indicated that tariffs could be doubled by August 27th. The broadcast also highlighted what was described as the "double standard" from the Trump administration. This referred to the US administration remaining silent on oil purchases by other countries and its own economic activities, such as military sales, related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
