US President Donald Trump announced that Operation Epic Fury against Iran will continue for another two to three weeks to complete objectives aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. In an address to the nation, Trump stated that most objectives have been achieved and described the progress made by US forces. He reiterated his 2015 campaign vow to never allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons, calling the regime fanatical and citing decades of anti-American actions including the Marine barracks bombing in Beirut, attacks on US service members, the USS Cole attack, and involvement in the October 7th attacks in Israel. Trump also claimed the Iranian regime killed 45,000 protesters within Iran. He emphasised that Iranian leadership, ballistic missile arsenals, and command and control systems have been decimated. Military analyst Chris Osborne noted uncertainties remain regarding the Strait of Hormuz and potential naval operations required to fully accomplish objectives.
