New York’s highest court has declined to block Donald Trump’s upcoming sentencing in his hush-money case, leaving the US Supreme Court as the president-elect’s likely last option to prevent the hearing from taking place tomorrow. Trump has asked the US Supreme Court to block his sentencing in the hush money case. Trump’s legal team turned to the Supreme Court after New York courts denied their request to delay the sentencing by Justice Merchan, who convicted Trump last May on 34 felony charges of falsifying business records. Trump denies any wrongdoing. His lawyers argue that going ahead with the sentencing now would unfairly limit his ability to prepare for office.
