Allopathic doctors argue the prefix is a "hard earned degree" reserved for those with MBBS qualifications, warning that its misuse can mislead patients. Practitioners of AYUSH, including Ayurveda and Homeopathy, counter this, asserting that their extensive training also qualifies them to be called ‘doctor,’ which simply means a physician who provides treatment.
