In an exclusive conversation with India Today, filmmaker Kamakhya Narayan Singh defended his upcoming film, ‘Kerala Story 2’, following sharp criticism from Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The Chief Minister alleged that the sequel spreads communal hatred, insults secular traditions, and relies on ‘unadulterated lies’ to divide society. Responding to these claims, Singh stated, ‘What we are showing is the truth,’ asserting that the film aims to sensitize the public about conspiracies regarding demographic changes and the trapping of young women. He confirmed that the film has received a ‘UA’ certificate from the censor board, allowing a wider audience to view it. Despite facing ‘hate messages’ and political resistance from the Left and Congress parties—who have flagged specific scenes involving forced consumption of beef—Singh remains committed to the release on the 27th. He emphasized that cinema is a tool for communication and urged critics to examine court judgments and police records to verify the reality of the issues portrayed.
