Mumbai Police have intensified security at the residence of Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh following a threatening WhatsApp voice note. The message, allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, demanded an extortion payment of several crores of rupees. This incident follows a series of attacks targeting the film industry, including a firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence on February 1, 2026. Authorities are currently using technical surveillance and human intelligence to trace the sender. The investigation highlights a pattern of threats by the Bishnoi gang, which has also targeted comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada and actor Salman Khan. While the gang’s hierarchy includes jailed leader Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol, operatives like Shubham Lonkar are suspected of managing local networks to execute these intimidations. Police are working to determine if the threat is from a genuine gang member or an impersonator.
