A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has found partial skeletal remains in the Dharmasthala mass burial investigation in Karnataka. The discovery was made at site Ms.1 6 on the third day of digging along the banks of the Netravati river, the first of 13 sites to yield such evidence. The probe follows allegations from a former sanitation worker who claimed "he was forced to bury and cremate bodies of women and minors with many showing signs of sexual assault between 1998 and 2014 in the temple town." While the first five excavation sites yielded no human remains, a lawyer for a missing girl’s mother stated items like a blouse and ATM and PAN cards were found at the first site. This new discovery of skeletal remains, believed to be male, provides a significant lead for the SIT in its ongoing investigation.
