This report focuses on allegations of mass burials in the temple town of Dharamsthala. 25 days after an FIR was registered, a special investigation team (SIT) has started the exhumation process. A former sanitation worker, the complainant, identified 15 locations near the Netravati river where he claims to have buried unidentified bodies. The first day of digging at one site, however, yielded no human remains. The process is set to continue at other locations. A key question raised is, if remains are found, it could be "one of the biggest crime the state has never seen in the history." The investigation also probes why no missing complaints were filed despite claims of numerous burials and whether locals are hesitant to speak.
