Dhangar Samaj leader Deepak Borade is on the ninth day of his hunger strike in Mumbai, demanding reservation for the Dhangar community. Speaking from the protest site, Borade said the government has taken the movement ‘very lightly’ despite meetings with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on 13th of the month. He stated that while discussions took place, no solution was reached. Borade criticised the government for not fulfilling promises made during elections, claiming that Fadnavis acknowledged the Dhangar community’s role in forming the government. He called upon Dhangar community members across Maharashtra to converge in Mumbai, drawing parallels with the Maratha reservation protests. Borade welcomed support from Maratha leader Manoj Jarange Patil and appealed to the High Court to hold the government accountable rather than view protesters negatively. He emphasised that protesters are not causing trouble deliberately but are fighting for their constitutional rights after seven decades of injustice.
