DGP Ramachandra Rao Reinstated: Compulsory Leave Withdrawn, Posted To Civil Rights Enforcement

The order of compulsory leave for Dr. K. Ramchandra Rao, a 1993 batch IPS officer, has been withdrawn. The officer is now posted with immediate effect as the DGP in the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement. This development follows his compulsory leave by the Karnataka government during an investigation into a gold smuggling case. The case involved his daughter, Rania Rao, who was allegedly involved in the gold smuggling row. The officer was questioned by investigating officers in Karnataka and subsequently by the Directorate and DRI. He has been reinstated to a position, Director General of Police of Civil Rights Enforcement in the Upgraded Waking Force, after being recalled from his compulsory leave. The situation involves a daughter accused in a gold smuggling case and the father, an IPS officer, now reinstated.
