Dep CM DK Shivakumar urges Karnataka firms to grant leave to Bihari workers to vote in Bihar

This special report focuses on the Karnataka government’s voter outreach for the Bihar Assembly polls, led by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Speaking to the Bihari community in Bengaluru, Shivakumar appealed to businesses and establishments to grant leave to their employees from Bihar so they could travel home to vote for the Mahagathbandhan. He is quoted as saying, ‘I appeal to all the businesses, establishments, and contractors in the city that if there is anyone working in their organisation, who has a vote in Bihar, to give them leave for three to four days, to enable them to cast their votes.’ The move, part of a larger effort by the Siddaramaiah government to support the INDIA bloc, also included a promise to allocate a site for the Bihar Association in Bengaluru and drew criticism from the opposition BJP.
