Delhi’s toxic air is not just a winter phenomenon. A new study reveals that microplastics are a significant, year-round pollutant, present even during the summer and monsoon seasons. According to the Central Pollution Control Board data cited, Delhi’s average AQI in May 2024 was 223 and 179 in June, both in the moderate to poor category. The study, by scientists from the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, found thousands of these tiny plastic particles in air samples. These particles, from sources like clothing and single-use plastics, enter the human body and have been found in placentas and breast milk. A medical expert on the program warned of the slow, silent danger these man-made particles pose, stating, "we are actually terrified…Plastics will, particles will act slowly." Potential health risks include bronchitis, lung inflammation, and cancer. #delhiairpollution #microplastics #airquality #itwebvideos #pollution #publichealth #delhi #environment #plasticpollution #aqi #cleanair #healthhazard #indiatoday #invisiblethreat #yearroundpollution
