Residents of Delhi’s Kunwar Singh Colony say they have been struggling with bad water for months and their multiple complaints to the Delhi Jal Board have fallen to deaf ears. India Today visited the neighbourhood to see the situation and evidence was abundant – buckets after buckets filled with water that is visibly discoloured and has a foul smell.
Anxeity has deepened across the area as people dread to consume the water in the aftermath of Indore’s Bhagirathpura contamination tragedy, which has claimed multiple lives. A quick scroll through the Delhi Jal Board’s social media pages shows several complaints over water having a foul smell as if mixed with sewage.
