A high-intensity explosion in a vehicle near Delhi’s Red Fort has resulted in at least eight fatalities and up to 24 injuries. The blast occurred around 6:52 p.m. in the crowded Chandni Chowk area when a car stopped at a traffic light near Gate No. 1 of the Lal Qila Metro Station and exploded, engulfing multiple other vehicles in flames. A high alert has been sounded across the national capital and neighboring states. Top government officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, are monitoring the situation. The Delhi Police Special Cell, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and National Security Guard (NSG) commandos are at the scene to investigate a potential terror angle. The probe is exploring a possible link to nationwide anti-terror raids conducted the same day, though an official connection has not been confirmed. The injured were transported to LNJP Hospital for treatment.
