Delhi Pollution: Evening Commute Causes 40% More Lung Damage, Says Devibhaktuni Srikrishna

A new five-year study by Netaji Subhas University of Technology and AARC Engineers reveals that Delhi’s evening commuters inhale 40% more PM 2.5 and 23% more PM 10 than morning travellers. Discussing the findings on India Today, engineering and public health researcher Devibhaktuni Srikrishna explains that ‘rush hour time is the biggest factor’ due to emission concentration. He advises using HEPA 13 filters and ensuring car air recirculation. Senior physician Dr. M. Wali highlights the overlooked danger of non-exhaust emissions, noting that ‘car tires get worn off by 1.5 kg in three years’, releasing micro-fine particles. The experts urge immediate government action as pollution becomes a year-round health emergency.
