In a massive crackdown on organised crime, the Delhi Police Special Cell has busted an international drug trafficking syndicate worth ?13,000 crore, arresting more than 15 accused across multiple states. The operation uncovered large consignments of cocaine and marijuana seized from Delhi, Gujarat, and Punjab, exposing a deep-rooted narcotics network with global links.
According to investigators, Keerat Sharma, arrested from Sikkim, played a key role in supplying marijuana sourced from Thailand to the syndicate. The seizures were made on October 2, 2024, marking one of the biggest drug busts in recent times. Police say the network used sophisticated routes and multiple handlers to distribute narcotics across India.
The mastermind, Virendra Basoya, is currently believed to be outside the country, while a Red Corner Notice has been issued against his son Rishabh, who is also absconding.
