A court has discharged Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in the liquor scam case, acquitting all 23 accused and ruling there was no criminal intent or conspiracy. Following the acquittal, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin criticised the BJP, stating the party ‘has sold the integrity of agencies for politics’ and asked them to ‘have some shame’. Celebrations erupted outside Kejriwal’s residence with drums being played as Aam Aadmi Party leaders called the cases fabricated. AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj demanded punishment for CBI officials involved in the investigation and questioned the sustainability of the Enforcement Directorate case, arguing that with the predicate offence dismissed, the ED case cannot stand. The court’s decision comes after months of legal proceedings that saw top AAP leaders arrested and jailed.
