Delhi LG Vinai Saxena Sanctions ED To Prosecute Arvind Kejriwal In Liquor Policy Case | India Today

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has received approval from Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to prosecute former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. This major development comes just weeks before the crucial Delhi Assembly elections, where the AAP is striving to secure its fourth term against a reinvigorated BJP.

The ED alleges massive corruption in the formulation and implementation of the controversial excise policy, framing it as a liquor policy scandal that shook the capital. The agency, citing a Supreme Court judgment, sought approval for prosecution on December 5, marking a pivotal moment in this high-profile case. The timing of the approval has sparked political debates, with the BJP intensifying its campaign against AAP while Kejriwal and his party strongly deny the allegations.
