Delhi Government Press Briefing on Reviewing End-of-Life vehicle policy, Writes to CAQM

The Delhi government is addressing concerns over the end-of-life vehicle policy implemented in the city. The policy, which bans vehicles older than 10-15 years, has faced criticism for its strict norms and implementation issues. The government plans to write to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to address public concerns. The policy includes measures such as impounding vehicles found in public places and installing Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras at petrol pumps. However, the ANPR system faces technological challenges, including issues with camera placement, sensors, and integration with NCR data. The government is also working on pollution control measures, including dust mitigation, tree planting, and mandating anti-smog guns in high-rise buildings. The implementation of the end-of-life vehicle policy is currently deemed unfeasible due to technological complexities and lack of integration with neighbouring states. #delhigovernment #endoflifevehicles #pollutioncontrol #anprcameras #dustmitigation #treeplanting #antismogguns #airquality #urbanplanning #transportpolicy
