Rouse Avenue Delhi Court has discharged Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, questioning the evidence presented by the CBI and ED. The court observed that the agencies made serious allegations against public officeholders without requisite evidence to prove the charges. Specifically, the court stated there was no material to establish the main conspirator role alleged against Kejriwal and Sisodia. Following the ruling, Kejriwal addressed the media, appealing to the Prime Minister not to misuse constitutional powers for political gains. He urged the government to focus on resolving issues like inflation, unemployment, broken roads and pollution instead. The court noted that public confidence in office reduces when prosecuting agencies make serious allegations against elected leaders and fail to prove them. Both CBI and ED had arrested the former Delhi Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister during the probe into the excise policy matter.
